Nauru to receive 6600 doses of Pfizer vaccine

The vaccine is for children between the ages of 5 and 11 years.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that they are working closely with the Nauru Taskforce to prepare plans for the roll-out of the vaccines to the targeted age group.

The roll out will take place in a few weeks’ time when the vaccines arrive.

Taskforce Doctor, Dr. Grace said, “The vaccine will be administered at the Public Health Centre and there are plans as well to deliver doses in the communities specifically for the targeted age group.”

Over 500 doses of Pfizer vaccine administered in Nauru

The Ministry of Health confirmed that a total of 302 doses were given to children in the targeted age group 12-12-17, while 224 booster shots were administered to the adult population 18 years and above.

Booster shots were also administered at the Airport for frontline officers from Nauru Airlines, Customs, DCA and others.

The booster shot is the 3rd jab administered for the adults while for the children aged 12-17 years, it is their first dose

Nauru to rollout Pfizer vaccine for children aged 12 to 17 years

The Australian Government is donating 5,850 doses of the Pfizer vaccine which is due to arrive on Wednesday.

Nauru Media News – NTV reports the Pfizer vaccine is expected to be rolled out before school commences.

Nauru Public Health is encouraging parents to bring their children along to get their dose to be protected and safe.

When school commences, the public health team will visit the relevant schools to continue the vaccination of those who have not yet received their shot.

Information sessions for parents on Pfizer vaccines for children

The Pfizer vaccine will soon be introduced in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, this is a good opportunity to know more of the Pfizer vaccine and discuss with technical experts on any queries you may have.

The informatiomn sessions are being held from today until Friday.

The Pfizer vaccine is part of the Covid-19 vaccination rollout.

Nauru remains Covid-free.

Fiji trains 200 health staffs prior to Pfizer vaccine rollout

The Ministry hopes to start the vaccination campaign from 15th November to support the safe reopening of schools.

MOH’s Permanent Secretary, Doctor James Fong said  Covid-19 poses a lower risk to children however secondary transmission from young school-aged children can and does occur.

Dr Fong added with the successful rollout of the Moderna vaccine for 15 to 17 years old, the Ministry is now focusing on the lower age group.

Fiji to rollout Pfizer vaccine to children aged 12 and 14 years old

Fiji is expected to administer Pfizer vaccine to children aged between 12 and 14 years from next month.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said although vaccination is not compulsory, students are encouraged to get vaccinated to protect themselves.

The vaccine is being brought in from New Zealand and will be available from this month.

The Ministry of Health Ministry said all logistical procedures will be looked at before it is administered.
