Brisbane Lions end Geelong's six-match AFL winning streak with 44-point triumph

Joe Daniher kicked four goals for the Lions on Thursday night, while Charlie Cameron booted three as Brisbane moved ahead of the Cats to third on the ladder with the 13.16 (94) to 7.8 (50) win.

Daniher and Cameron were ably supported by ex-Cat Lincoln McCarthy and Eric Hipwood, who kicked two goals each.

The victory is Brisbane's sixth straight win at the Gabba and only its second victory over the Cats since 2013, while the result ends Geelong's six-match winning run.

Scott cops suspended $10K whack for heated exchange with Lions

Scott and other coaches have been warned of serious consequences should a similar incident occur in the future.

Scott exchanged words with Brisbane players at the first break of last Friday night's fixture, after an incident between Geelong speedster Gary Rohan and Brownlow medalist Lachie Neale. Rohan later received a two-match ban for his high shot on Neale (watch it below).

The Cats coach has apologised and accepted the suspended fine, the AFL's general manager football operations Steve Hocking said.

Locked in: Cats confirm new deal for young gun

The 22-year-old was reportedly targeted by Greater Western Sydney during trade discussions for Jeremy Cameron, but he had no intentions of departing the Cattery.

His new deal was made official on Monday and will take him through until the end of the 2022 season.

Parfitt established himself in Geelong's strong midfield with his 107 tackles, ranked the second most across the AFL in 2020.

"Brandan is an integral part of our future, so we're pleased to have secured him until the end of 2022," General Manager of Football Simon Lloyd said.

Cat Menzel's 'surreal' return to the big time

The 24-year-old, in just his third senior game in nearly five years, took just six minutes to show his class with a slick handball to Lincoln McCarthy that resulted in a Geelong goal.

It was the start of a satisfying day for Menzell, who said he eventually picked up the pace finishing with 15 disposals, seven marks and a goal.

Cats confident Bartel OK but will sweat on Cockatoo report

Bartel copped a knock to the head in the first quarter of the Cats' 12-point loss to the Dockers at Domain Stadium.

He was taken from the ground and assessed for concussion. Geelong's director of coaching Simon Lloyd said the veteran passed the initial test but did not return as a precaution.

"Jimmy is fine," Lloyd said post-match.
