Nauru calls for further strengthening of Zero-Draft of the Call for Action

Nauru’s Counsellor, Margo Deiye says the task ahead is to produce a concise and action oriented political declaration delivered her statement on Sustainable Development Go and the zero-draft has provided a good basis for negotiations to begin.

Speaking on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUU), Deiye says the zero-draft could also address the need to manage bycatch, discards and other adverse ecosystem impacts from fisheries.

First Swedish Minister to visit the PSIDS

The Ministerial meeting is to discuss Climate Change and its effects on the Pacific Islands especially with the Swedish Government aiming to cooperate with PSIDS in battling the many challenges of Climate Change as Swedish Minister Isabella Lovin addressed yesterday at the opening of the three days Conference at the Fa‘onelua Convention Centre in Nuku‘alofa.

“I am very proud and honoured to be the first Swedish Minister ever to visit the Pacific Island States.
