Nauru Public Health brings Covid-19 vaccination closer to eligible public

On Tuesday the team visited Boe community to administer shots.

The Nauru Health team said, “It was very encouraging to see a good number of the targeted age group and adults 18 years and over turn up to get their jab, to be protected and save in order for Nauru to remain Covid free.”

The team will be visiting the communities of Aiwo, Baitsi and Anabar this afternoon from 3 to 6pm to administer Pfizer and booster vaccine shots.

     

Australia-UNICEF’s Covid-19 vaccine support to Nauru

Australia provided 5,850 doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines to Nauru as part of a AUD302.7 million partnership with UNICEF to procure up to 20 million vaccines for partner countries in the Pacific and Southeast Asia by the end of 2022.

New Zealand has contributed AUD 6.1m to the partnership with UNICEF.

Nauru’s Minister for Health, Isabella Dageago, was on hand to receive the vaccine doses yesterday.

Fiji receives first batch of Pfizer vaccine

The Aotearoa government said they are proud to share the vaccines with Fiji to help protect 12-14 year olds against Covid-19.

The vaccines will be rolled out as early as next week.

New Zealand continues to work with Fiji as it builds resilience against the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health had earlier stated that they are training 200 staff in order to rollout Pfizer vaccines for children.

The Ministry hopes to start the vaccination campaign to support the safe reopening of schools.
