Stephen Curry injured as Golden State Warriors lose again

Curry had a game-high 38 points when he was hurt attempting a steal in the third quarter.

Curry will have a scan on the injury on Thursday, said coach Steve Kerr.

"Maybe it's going to get tougher if Steph is out for a little while," added Kerr after a 15th defeat in 29 games.

The Warriors, who are seeking a fifth title in nine season, lie 10th in the Western Conference.

"My message to the group was it's about competing, it's about weathering the storm," Kerr added. "This has been a tough start to the season. We're in a tough stretch."

No Curry for a month

ESPN reported the Warriors are optimistic Curry can return by the start of the NBA playoffs next month.

Curry underwent an MRI immediately following the Warriors' 110-88 loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday at San Francisco.

The injury occurred with just over four minutes remaining in the second quarter when Boston's Marcus Smart landed on the back of Curry's leg while diving for possession of the ball.

The 33-year-old needed one three-point success on the night to equal the mark of 2,973 set by NBA legend Ray Allen.

He got to 2,974 in the first quarter, and made five in all on the night.

"I appreciate so much the way the fans embraced the moment with me and let me get kind of lost in it," said Curry.

Curry out at least three months

The two-time NBA MVP was hurt during his team's game against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, as he suffered a bad fall while going for a layup during the third quarter.

Golden State plan to provide a further update on Curry, whose hand became caught under Suns big man Aron Baynes, in three months - meaning he is unlikely to play again until February 2020.

The 31-year-old - a six-time All-Star - averaged 20.3 points and 6.5 assists in four games at the start of the new season.

Curry opens up about equality

Curry penned an emotional letter on Sunday in The Players' Tribune, discussing his family and hopes of raising his two girls to understand they can do anything they want.

"I want our girls to grow up knowing that there are no boundaries that can be placed on their futures, period," Curry wrote. "I want them to grow up in a world where their gender does not feel like a rulebook for what they should think, or be, or do. And I want them to grow up believing that they can dream big, and strive for careers where they’ll be treated fairly.
