Sir Elton John postpones US shows after positive Covid-19 test

The musician, 74, is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is currently experiencing only mild symptoms, according to a post on his Instagram.

The global pandemic has caused many delays in Sir Elton's Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour.

Another British superstar, Adele, also cancelled US shows last week.

The Dallas shows were originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Elton John's ex-wife demands £3m over film and memoir

The sound engineer, who was married to the star for four years, is suing over passages in Sir Elton's 2019 memoir Me, and the hit movie Rocketman.

Ms Blauel claims these revealed details of the marriage, breaking an agreement they made when they divorced in 1988.

The disclosures triggered long-standing mental health problems, her claim said.

In response, Sir Elton's defence acknowledged the existence of the divorce agreement, which both parties signed, but denied any breaches or causing "psychological harm".

Sir Elton's emotional Instagram post after being escorted off Auckland stage

"I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia earlier today [Sunday], but I was determined to give you the best show humanly possible," he said in an Instagram post after the concert. "I played and sang my heart out until my voice could sing no more."

Walking pneumonia is an infection caused by bacteria that mostly affects people's respiratory tracts. It's less severe than other forms of pneumonia but can still leave people feeling sick.

Despite efforts to battle through his set, he was forced to cut the show short.

Sir Elton John pleads with God during secret cancer battle

In his memoir, serialised in the Daily Mail, the 'Rocketman' hit-maker describes how his prostate cancer operation caused an infection, leaving him "24 hours from death".

He prayed in hospital: "Please don't let me die - please let me see my kids again".

"I lay awake all night, wondering if I was going to die," he writes.

Sir Elton was cured of the illness following successful surgery, and is currently back on tour. He'll play four shows in New Zealand in February.

Sir Elton John's best movie moments

The movie, directed by Dexter Fletcher and starring Taron Egerton chronicles the colourful career of the musician; from his early life as Reginald Kenneth Dwight to becoming the knight of the rock 'n' roll realm we know today.

Speaking at the Cannes press conference, actor Bryce Dallas Howard said it was "incredibly surreal to hear Elton crying a few seats away" at the premiere. After the screening the rock star put on a surprise gig at a beach-side gala party, where he performed the film's title track alongside Egerton once again.

Sir Rod Stewart says Sir Elton John's final tour 'stinks of selling tickets'

Speaking to US chat show host Andy Cohen on Bravo TV, Sir Rod said he did not believe in retirement tours.

"I've never spoken about it and if I do retire, I won't make an announcement. I'll just fade away," he said, adding that retirement tours were "dishonest".

Sir Elton, who announced his farewell tour in February, hasn't responded.

Sir Rod was responding to a question from a caller on Cohen's Watch What Happens Live, asking what he thought about his fellow pop legend's tour.
