NBA Final

Boston Celtics beat Miami Heat to reach NBA Finals for first time since 2010

Boston failed in their last five play-off runs and almost did so again as Jimmy Butler missed a late three-point attempt which would have given Miami the lead.

But the Celtics go on to face the Golden State Warriors in the Finals.

"This is a typical Celtics win," coach Ime Udoka said.

"We fought through a lot of adversity this year. We're a resilient group and tonight seemed to signify our season. We can't ever seem to shut the door and have to grind it out."

Heat advance to NBA Finals

With the Lakers already through, the Heat booked their place in the title-deciding series with a 125-113 win in game six of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics on Monday (NZ time).

Bam Adebayo proved the key man for Miami, scoring a career-high 32 points and adding 14 rebounds to help his side take the seven-game series 4-2.

Star guard Jimmy Butler had 22 points, while Tyler Herro had 19 and Andre Iguodala finished with a season-high 15.
