Nauru Stars back to back champions

The Stars played against three teams where they were undefeated and snatched the Lightning Cup.

They went to compete in the main competition, the Oceania Championships.

The boys were fantastic on the field winning every game played against Fiji, Tonga and Solomon.

The grand final saw the Stars clash with the strong Fiji team where they played superbly and were named Oceania Champions 2016.

Proud parents, supporters and President of AFL Nauru Mathew Batsiua waited at the airport for their arrival.

The players were greeted with flower garlands.

Nauru Stars joins South Pacific Team

Marvin Canon, Woewoedin Thoma, Wes Joe Fritz, Alladin Kepae and Amata Itsimaera have been training together on the field preparing themselves for their upcoming games. They’re so excited to have the opportunity to further their career by playing the sport they love.

AFL Nauru organized a raffle ticket fundraiser where all money received will go towards travel expenses.

Nauru Stars win AFL Oceania Cup 2015

Fiji fans out-cheered the Nauru Stars cheer squad as they had the advantage playing on home ground.

Despite the home advantage the Stars used their team work skills and managed to kick a couple more goals to overtake Fiji’s lead and carry the game until the horn blew.

The Nauru Stars took out the victory cup for 2015.

The boys played superbly winning both the Lightning Cup and the main event AFL Oceania Cup, doing their country proud.

 A job well done and games well played.

Nauru Stars ready for AFL Oceania Cup competition

The team will be up against Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga and All Star. The 23 players are captained by Jonah Lesa and he is assisted by 3 vice captains, Amata Itsimaera, Lazarus Caleb and Buddy Waidabu. Zac Temaki is their coach and he is being assisted by Robato Deidenang. The team is fortunate to have Jenke Jeremiah as their physio and Jaxon Jeremiah as their manager. The Nauru Stars were formed to represent Nauru in the annual AFL Oceania Cup 2015. Nauru has participated in the competition since 2009. And for the very first time, the team grabbed the title for the very time.
