Pies set to tie down their prime high-flyer

AFL.com.au understands the new deal is yet to be finalised, but will be soon.

The 27-year-old high-flyer’s contract was due to expire at the end of the 2018 season, but the new deal will keep him in the black and white up until at least the end of 2021.

Howe began his AFL career at Melbourne and moved down Olympic Boulevard after the 2015 season.

Securing his place in the Magpies defensive set up, the Tasmanian continues to impress with his sensational marks – despite being overlooked in last year’s public vote in favour of Bomber Joe Daniher.

High Flying Magpies take out Grand Final

When the big game finally started, it was the Magpies who hit the ground running, dominating clearances and controlling the first quarter.

Young Magpie Richmond Spanner was a strong target for the Magpies, taking brilliant contested marks in their forward line and kicking 2 first quarter goals to help his team take control of the game early on.

In the middle Magpies skipper Yoshi Harris controlled the ruck in the first quarter giving his on-ballers first use and control of the clearances.

Bullish Magpie says he's ready to suit up immediately

Although he has played just nine games in two seasons, Reid's confidence was buoyed after he played the final five matches of 2015 without injury.

Belief that the worst is behind the 26-year-old has grown over the pre-season.

"Every now and then I miss a session and let the body recover a bit more," Reid said.

No deal yet, but Pies close to Buckley extension

Negotiations are being finalised on a new deal, which it's believed will ensure Buckley's future until at least the end of the 2017 season.

"It hasn't happened yet, but it will," Collingwood president Eddie McGuire told his Triple M radio audience on Tuesday morning.
