James Tedesco

Tedesco stars in Roosters win

The win puts the Roosters right in the thick of the battle for the top eight.

Roosters James Tedesco was in the midst of it all setting up tries for Joseph Suaalii and Daniel Tupou and scoring one of his own, along with making three line breaks and running for 304 metres

The Knights lost Kalyn Ponga to a concussion after he kicked his side to an early 2-0 lead.

Returning playmaker Luke Keary opened the scoring before Tedesco and Suaalii added extras for a 16-2 lead at the break.

'He looks ready to go': Hype continues to grow as ex-All Blacks star Sonny Bill Williams nears NRL return

Williams is expected to end a 2171-day NRL hiatus against on Saturday night at GIO Stadium, with five matches for Toronto Wolfpack his only rugby league since leaving the Roosters in 2014.

The return of the former All Blacks ace comes at an ominous time for the Roosters’ NRL rivals, with reigning Dally M Medallist Tedesco involved in five tries last week and the premiers’ attack the best in the competition.

But with Williams in the team, superstar fullback Tedesco believes the Roosters will be even more dangerous.

Tedesco stamps class as Roosters open their account in style

The book of feuds was re-opened two months and two days after the scheduled round three clash had to be postponed and both sides blew out the cobwebs with a series of powerful hits.

Latrell Mitchell's defection to the Rabbitohs generated the headlines for months both during the pre-season and the COVID-19 pandemic, but the game itself failed to live up to the niggle fans are used to seeing between the game's oldest rivals.

Roosters sign Tigers star Tedesco

Tedesco, the 24-year-old who was the Dally M Fullback of the Year in 2016, will join the Roosters from next year.

A New South Wales State of Origin representative in 2016, Tedesco has played 78 NRL matches.

"James is a tremendously exciting talent whose signature we are pleased to have secured and we look forward to welcoming him to the Roosters in 2018," Roosters chief executive Joe Kelly said.

James Tedesco signs with the Roosters, reports

A cloud of speculation has followed the Origin fullback all season, but News Limited reports that he has signed a $1 million-plus contract with the Chooks.

Earlier on Thursday, the Tigers gave Tedesco and Woods a 24-hour deadline to decide on their futures.

News Limited reports the deals for both players had already been finalised when Wests gave the deadline, but that the club didn't know about them.

The brightest prospect of the so-called 'Big Four,' Tedesco will be the biggest loss for the Tigers.

Australian PM's XIII team arrives

School children, men and women swarmed to the airport as early as 1pm to catch a glimpse of their rugby league heroes.

The flight’s delay and the sun's heat did nothing to move the crowd.

The plane finally touched down at Jackson’s International Airport just after 3pm and was met by cheering and chanting for players like Greg Inglis, James Tedesco and Matt Moylan.

The airport erupted as the Australian team walked out to board their bus.

Police and airport security had to fight back the crowd, who then chased after the team bus that left for Holiday Inn.

Tedesco's magic play baffles everyone

Tedesco beat 10 players on his late run to the line (if you count a couple of second efforts) and somehow got the ball down with three players still on him. It turned a tense six-point advantage at 20-14 into an unassailable 26-14 scoreline.

Afterwards, the fullback said he wasn't sure what had happened while his coach admitted that even after Tedesco had beaten half the Cowboys team he was still just hoping for a quick play the ball to set up for a field goal.

"I said to Mitch [Moses] I would just be an option outside him," Tedesco recalled after the game.

Pick Tedesco for Origin, not me: Morris

Morris – one of the heroes of NSW's 2014 series win – would have been an absolute certainty for all three games this year if fit but has only just returned from a long-term knee injury and would have just two games under his belt in nine months if picked for Origin III.

Speaking after his hat-trick heroics in his return game against Brisbane on Saturday night, Morris shut down any talk of an Origin recall.
