Critical game for PNG SP Hunters this Sunday

It is history in the making for the PNG SP Hunters this Sunday as they take on the Sunshine Coast Falcons on home soil at the National Football stadium in Port Moresby.

On the match report, the Falcons will travel without some of their best players, including Eddie Tautali, Curtis Scott, Richard Kennar, Mark Nicholls and Joe Stimson. They haven’t been named in the Falcons side to take on PNG, with their finals spot cemented.

This will be an advantage to the home side, moreover, taking advantage of PNG’s all-time rowdy crowd to claim victory.

The Hunters are unbeaten at home this season and will have no problem getting past a weakened Falcons side, which could be focusing on the same match-up in the finals in a week’s time.

The Hunters are the only team to have won all home games in NRL, ISC, ISP and TOYOTA Cup (U20) in a regular season. If they can win this last remaining home game against this strong Melbourne Storm feeder club, they will go down in the history books in Australian rugby league as the only team unbeaten on home ground in a season.

The 2016 NRL rugby league statistics so far shows that the only team, out of all these top level competitions in Australia in 2016, which has not conceded defeat yet on home soil is the PNG SP Hunters.

Therefore this weekend’s game is a crucial one for both a PNG Hunters win and to also go down in the Australian rugby league history books.
