The provincial police in Auki say the accused is alleged to have stabbed the victim at Sarawasi logging camp last Thursday.
They say the incident is alleged to have been connected to a land dispute.
The 31-year-old accused man is facing one count of attempted murder .
The victim has been flown to Australia for medical attention.
