Junior Kurukuru impress in Australia

The Junior Kurukuru defeated Football NSW Metro Lightning 4-3 and thrashed Football South Australia 9-0 in their opening two group matches.

The four wins mean the future Kurukuru stars finished top of Pool A with 12 points scoring a staggering 23 goals and conceding only six in the process.

Michael Junior is the team’s top scorer with six goals so far in the tournament.

Solomon Islands coach Caleb Fox said the team will continue to improve in the knock-out stages despite finishing strong in the group phase.

Solomons' footballer confirmed for Europe trial

The Laugu United FC striker Atkin Kaua has been invited to trial for Malta's Tarxien Rainbows.

Funding constraints had initially cast some doubt on whether the footballer would even be able to make it to Europe.

But this seems to have been sorted and Paul Driessen from the Netherlands Oceania Support Foundation, who helped arrange the trial, says it's an an exciting opportunity for Kaua.

"It is quite an endeavour and it took us a lot of hours to get this together for all stake holders involved."

Dutch football great to coach Solomon Islands

The 67-year-old, who's been the head coach of Indonesia and Trinidad and Tobago, played for the Netherlands at the 1974 and 78 World Cups alongside football legend Johan Cruyff.

After signing a short term contract with the Solomons, Rijsbergen said he was curious about football in Oceania.

"What a great opportunity to get to know other people, to get to know football in that part of the world," he said.

"This is not a job to make a lot of money, you have to enjoy it.

Solomons football 'devastated' after losing World Cup spot

A disciplinary committee found Chris Satu breached both the Oceania Football Confederation Disciplinary Code and regulations when he turned out for Solomon Islands at the OFC Under 16 Championships in Honiara last year.

The teenager was found to have been born prior to 1 January 2002 and has been suspended for six matches.

The Solomon Islands Football Federation has been fined and the team forfeited all five matches in which Satu participated in during the tournament.

Entertaining football expected in Vanuatu vs Solomon Islands international friendly

It is anticipated that the international friendly will be an exciting and entertaining match for the soccer-mad nation of Solomon Islands.

In their last international friendly in 2011, Vanuatu defeated Solomon Islands 1-0 and there is no doubt that they are keeping this at their back of their mind to maintain the winning record.

Tomorrow’s friendly match is going to be the eighth time that both teams have met to help each other prepare for bigger games.

In their first friendly in 2004, Solomon Islands won 2-1 and lost 1-2 in the away game.
