Nauru President Waqa receives Czech Republic ambassador-designate

President Baron Waqa received the Ambassador-designate of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Nauru at the Office of the President on Monday (17 July) for the presentation of the Letter of Credence.

Ambassador Jaroslav Olsa Jr. arrived at the government offices and was greeted by Secretary for Foreign Affairs & Trade Michael Aroi with copies of the Letter of Credence before being received by the Commissioner of Police for the playing of the national anthems of the Czech Republic and Nauru and the inspection of the Nauru Police Guard of Honour.

The Ambassador was then escorted to the Office of the President for the presentation of credentials.

President Waqa welcomed and wished Ambassador Olsa well during his term as ambassador to Nauru, and expressed appreciation for the continued relations between their two countries.

Ambassador Olsa expressed his gratitude for becoming the third non-resident ambassador of the Czech Republic to Nauru before presenting letter of credence from the President of the Czech Republic as well as the letter of credence from his predecessor.

A private meeting followed the formal presentation.

Ambassador Olsa continued courtesy calls on Speaker of Parliament and Cabinet Ministers and was hosted to dinner by President Waqa.

Upon arrival into Nauru on 10 May, Ambassador Olsa and his accompanying official were taken on a tour of the Nauru Rehabilitation Corporation mining site and the Regional Processing Centre.

The Ambassador will depart Nauru on Wednesday 19 July 2017.
