The Nauru government today announced the appointment of a leading aviation industry executive, Peter Sheehan, as CEO of Nauru Airlines.
Nauru Airlines chairman Trevor Jensen said Mr Sheehan, who will commence on July 16, would lead the airline through an exciting stage of opportunity and growth.
“Nauru Airlines has become a leader in aviation in the Pacific, providing passenger, freight and charter services throughout the region,” Mr Jensen said.
“The board has recently developed a strategic plan that requires a CEO and leadership team to capitalise on the market opportunities that are available to Nauru Airlines, and to build our brand, our performance, and maintain our outstanding safety record.
“We have huge potential in this airline, and the board and I are confident that Peter Sheehan is the ideal candidate to help us achieve our vision for Nauru Airlines.”
Mr Jensen, who took over from outgoing chairman Kevin Power in February, said he had previously worked with Mr Sheehan and had admired his achievements in aviation over more than 20 years.
“Peter has an extensive background in the aviation industry, having successfully led air freight, ground handling, and other aviation organisations over more than two decades,” Mr Jensen said.
“His aviation journey started in the Royal Australian Air Force and he has held leading roles in Soar Aviation, Aerocare, Australian Air Express, and Ansett Australia.”
Mr Sheehan said “Nauru Airlines plays a vital role in connecting the people of Nauru with the world, and I am honoured that the Nauruan Government and the Nauru Airlines board have trusted me to lead this organisation”.
