Indian Minister’s visit aims to strengthen diplomatic relations with Nauru

India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh has begun a four-day visit to Nauru.

The visit aims to strengthen the diplomatic relations between the governments Nauru and India with the Minister set to tour key sights on the island.

A statement said Minister Singh and his delegation first visited the Anetan community seawall yesterday, which was constructed and co-funded by Nauru and India in 2017 then went to inspect the progress of the Nauru Port Project in Aiwo.

Lastly, the Minister and his delegation went to the Nauru Parliament where they were welcomed by the Speaker of Parliament, Marcus Stephen and were invited to lunch.

Minister Singh is expected to have separate meetings with President Russ Joseph Kun and four other Members of Parliament today.
