Bendigo Bank recognised internationally

Bendigo Bank has been named the leading Australian company on the FORTUNE 2017 annual ‘Change the World’ list of companies that are “doing well by doing good”.

And in a major acknowledgement, Bendigo Bank, which is the only bank on Nauru, is ranked 13th globally.

FORTUNE's annual list of top 50 companies, announced in the United States, ranks enterprises that have positive social or environmental impacts on their communities.

“What this means, is that Bendigo Bank has been recognised globally for its untiring efforts to strengthen the connection between the bank and the communities that it serves, and its high ranking confirms that this is working,” said agency manager for Bendigo Bank in Nauru, Greg Watson.

“Nearly 9,000 accounts have been opened to date, and many more Nauruans are opening accounts with us every day. They’re doing that because they can see how saving with us benefits them and the community.”

Bendigo Bank is also ranked second in the world among all the commercial banks and this is another clear indication of its community focus and commitment to Nauruans.

“Nauru went more than ten years without having a bank and the Waqa Government put a lot of effort into bringing Bendigo Bank to our country,” said Minister for Finance David Adeang.

“This has been of huge benefit to the Nauruan people and we are very pleased to see the ongoing support from the community.”
