Nauru commemorates Remembrance Day

The President of Nauru Baron Waqa placed a wreath outside the Government Office to commemorate Remembrance Day which is held on November 11.

The President of Nauru Baron Waqa placed a wreath outside the Government Office to commemorate Remembrance Day which is held on November 11.

The President was joined by Ministers, heads of departments and guests at a special ceremony.

Members of the Nauru Police Force mounted a special guard of honour at the memorial.

This was followed by a flag raising ceremony.

Guests also observed two minutes of silence for fallen soldiers.

Remembrance Day (sometimes known as Poppy Day) is a memorial day observed on November 11 in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty.
