Digicel Nauru Today Celebrates its 7th Anniversary

Digicel Nauru today celebrates its seventh anniversary.

Digicel is delighted to announce that it is celebrating its 7th anniversary on the island of Nauru. 

Back in 2009, we started with an initial 2G service.  Today, we have moved to WiMAX internet services and of course 3G which was launch in 2014.

This September 2016 will see some major areas of growth include the Digicel new 3G+ unwired internet service, data offers with 20% extra, improved channels on its Digicel Play TV service and the Loop service and Digicel Mobile Advertising services.

In addition, the BIG news this month will see the launch of its LTE / 4G service on the island.  This is tremendous news for Nauru and shows the commitment that both Digicel and The Nauru Government has to the island and the people of Nauru.

Other key initiatives that will follow into the month of October will see a new store open at the Capelle Shopping Centre and a new Internet Café at the Civic Centre.

Digicel CEO, Ben Kealy, commented “It’s a month of celebrations in September and we will have very attractive promotions supported by a strong customer care (123) and a technical teams that are dynamic and responsive. With the launch of LTE / 4G, our new store and internet café, we will ensure that we increase smartphone penetration and data usage throughout Nauru.  We will continue to provide high quality content for customers on Digicel Play TV and our local news app, Loop, offers customers the best in local news straight to their mobile phones’’, Mr. Kealy added.

The Honourable Minister for Telecoms, Shadlog Bernicke in Nauru said, “We the Government are delighted that our partner Digicel is celebrating 7 years now in Nauru.  We have come a long way and with the improvements planned in the Network and of course the LTE / 4G launch during the month of September – it’s exciting times for the people of Nauru.”

He went onto say, “that he was looking forward to continuing the strong relationship with the local Digicel team in Nauru and he wished the team every success in the future.’’
