Eroni Sau to replace Vinaya Habosi in Fijian Drua

Sau is expected to join the Drua this week but is unlikely to make the match day 23 squad for the opening match against Moana Pasifika in New Zealand on Saturday.

Sau featured for the Drua in the National Rugby Championship in 2017.

The Drua was also interested in France-based winger and former Fiji Warriors and national Under 20 rep Epeli Momo,however, they’ve opted for Sau.

Another player who is part of the Drua development squad and Nadroga winger, Taniela Rakuro, may get a fulltime contract after Habosi’s departure.

Habosi, who was sacked by the Drua last week, will join French Club, Racing 92.

It is alleged that Habosi assaulted his partner and she lodged a Police complaint.

According to Police, the investigation is still ongoing and the victim has yet to provide a medical report.

Investigators are awaiting the report.

Fiji Drua terminates contract of Vinaya Habosi

It’s a major blow for the side as the Drua is just two weeks away from the first Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific match against Moana Pasifika in Auckland.

The Drua confirmed that Habosi had his contract terminated with immediate effect, due to a high-level breach of the Club’s Code of Conduct.

According to a club statement, the decision was made after careful consideration.

The Fijian Drua says they’ll not comment further on this matter and due process was accorded to Habosi.
