Liam Payne cancels tour dates after kidney infection

The One Direction star has pulled out of performances in South America after being taken to hospital.

The 29-year-old said that he was following doctor's orders and planning to "rest and recover" following his scare.

He apologised to fans who had bought tickets and said he hoped to reschedule the live dates.

In a statement posted on InstagramĀ on Friday, Payne said: "It's with a heavy heart I have to tell you that we have no other choice but to postpone my upcoming tour of South America.

The 23-year-old is one of several stars to have recently returned to playing live after the Covid pandemic halted tours around the world in 2020.

But Mendes said in a statement he "was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away".

He promised fans he would return once he had "taken the right time to heal".

Mendes wasn't due to perform in the UK until 2023 - with gigs in Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Sheffield - but those have now been shelved.

But she excluded two songs, Ghostin' and Imagine, that discuss her relationship with Mac Miller, who died of an accidental overdose last year.

Speaking at the soundcheck, Grande said Imagine was "too heavy" to play live.

However, she honoured her ex-boyfriend by playing his music as fans filtered into the Times Union Center in Albany, New York.
