Chelsea in comfortable win over Tottenham

Spurs never seriously threatened to overturn Chelsea's two-goal first-leg advantage and Antonio Rudiger's bundled finish from Mason Mount's corner after 18 minutes effectively confirmed a Wembley date with either Arsenal or Liverpool.

It was a night of frustration for Spurs and their former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte as they saw two penalties, awarded by referee Andre Marriner for fouls on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Lucas Moura, correctly overturned by VAR.

Top European football clubs announce breakaway Super League

The Six Premier League clubs feature among the founding members, along with Spain's Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and Italy's Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan, the organisation, called Super League, said in a statement.

The move, which has been heavily criticised by football authorities and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron, sets up a rival to UEFA's Champions League competition.

Three more clubs will join the Super League for the inaugural season, with a further five teams to qualify.

Spurs back in touch with the top four

Spurs have jumped above Liverpool and are now just a point behind West Ham United, who earlier blew a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Arsenal.

Arsenal are now ninth, a point above Villa.

Meanwhile, Leicester City are through the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 1982 after beating Manchester United 3-1.

Leicester will face Southampton for a place in the final at Wembley.

Chelsea have drawn Premier League leaders Manchester City in the other semi-final after the Blues beat Sheffield United 2-0.

Man City stay top as Liverpool slump

City are on 53 points, seven clear of second-placed Leicester City, and with a game in hand.

And while there are 15 matches still remaining, it will take a major slump in form to stop City from claiming their third title in four years.

"It is a big step for us but of course it is not over," said Spanish midfielder Rodri.

Pep Guardiola's side are, however, playing with a swagger having now won 16 straight matches in all competitions and German Gundogan has been central to that record-breaking run of form with 11 goals in his last 12 Premier League outings.

Mourinho's Stamford Bridge woes

During his two spells in charge of the Blues, Mourinho turned the Bridge into a fortress as the club lifted three Premier League titles.

But when he has gone back to his old stomping ground as a visiting boss, things have not panned out so well.

Indeed, in five trips across the Premier League and FA Cup, Mourinho is yet to taste victory when in charge of a domestic rival.

After this weekend's reverse left Spurs four points adrift of his old club, we look at Mourinho's tale of woe in familiar surroundings in west London.

Tottenham 1 Cardiff City 0

Dier's goal after eight minutes should have set Spurs on the road to a comfortable victory against a club yet to record a top-flight victory this season.

But that was as good as it got for the hosts, who wasted further goalscoring opportunities and survived periods of sustained Cardiff pressure.

The Welsh club's hopes of snatching a result faded when Joe Ralls was sent off for an appalling challenge on Lucas Moura, with Spurs holding on for the three points.

Man United 0 Tottenham 3

Mourinho's side suffered a shock 3-2 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion last time out and, although Monday's performance was significantly better, Spurs exposed United's weaknesses to keep the pressure on their hosts' manager.

United edged a breathless first half and created the better chances, but their finishing was unimpressive and Spurs grew into the contest.

Manchester United 2-1 Tottenham: Ander Herrera sends United to FA Cup final

Ander Herrera was the unlikely United hero, firing a 62nd-minute winner after Alexis Sanchez cancelled out Dele Alli's opener in a pulsating first half.

Spurs pushed for a route back into the game but it was heartbreak for Mauricio Pochettino's men as the club's miserable FA Cup semi-final record extended to eight consecutive defeats.

For Jose Mourinho, who will return to Wembley for the final on May 19, former club Chelsea or Southampton stand between him and the fourth trophy of his tenure at Old Trafford.

Tottenham 1 Arsenal 0

The England striker powered home Ben Davies' cross in the 49th minute to avenge Spurs' 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium in November in the first north London derby to take place at Wembley since 1993.

The victory lifts Mauricio Pochettino's side into third place in the table, having played a game more than Liverpool and Chelsea, while Arsenal slip to six points adrift of the coveted Champions League spots.

Liverpool 2 Tottenham 2

Kane had been denied by Loris Karius from 12 yards shortly after Victor Wanyama's long-range blockbuster cancelled out Mohamed Salah's opener, and Liverpool looked to have snuck a win thanks to the Egyptian's wonderful solo effort in the first minute of stoppage time.

But referee Jon Moss pointed to the spot again when Virgil van Dijk challenged Erik Lamela and Kane stepped up to send Karius the wrong way and give a thrilling contest a fitting climax.
