Shakira accused of tax crimes for the second time

Prosecutors in Spain allege the singer defrauded the state of €6.7m ($7.1m, £5.8m) in 2018.

They say this happened when she failed to declare millions in advance payments for her El Dorado World Tour, among other payments.

Spanish prosecutors opened the second investigation in July 2023, but released the details on Tuesday.

Spanish network RTVE says the 46-year-old singer is aware of the new charges, but news agency Reuters reports that Shakira's legal team in Miami - where she now lives - has not yet been told about them.

Shakira is the latest star to sell the rights to her songs

All 145 of her songs, including Hips Don't Lie, Whenever, Wherever and She Wolf, are included in the deal.

The songs have made her the best-selling female Latin artist of all time, with 80 million records sold worldwide.

The deal was struck with the Hipgnosis Song Fund, which also recently acquired Blondie and Neil Young's music.

Hipgnosis company did not disclose financial details of the sale, but it typically pays the equivalent of 15 years' royalties up front.

Super Bowl stalemate at halftime, as Shakira and Jennifer Lopez steal the show

The long-time friends and collaborators wowed those in attendance in Florida, after a rather forgetful half of football.

The 49ers outgained the Chiefs 177-155 and seemed poised to take the lead when Jimmy Garoppolo connected with tight end George Kittle on a 42-yard play that would have gotten San Francisco inside the Kansas City 15 with 6 seconds left.

But Kittle was called for offensive pass interference to nullify the big play, the 49ers took a knee on the ensuing snap to run out the clock, and off to halftime they went.

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez to headline Super Bowl half-time show

The concert is one of the biggest in the world - over 98 million people watched the show this year.

In a statement, the NFL said the pair would perform on 2 February in Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.

Their show will be the first to be produced by Roc Nation, an entertainment company founded by rapper and businessman Shawn "Jay Z" Carter.

Both artists have released chart-topping songs in English and Spanish since the 1990s.

They shared the latest announcement on social media.

Shakira returns to the stage

It's the star's first tour in seven years, after taking time out to start a family with her partner, Spanish footballer Gerard Pique.

Footage from the opening night in Hamburg showed the 41-year-old looking overwhelmed, clasping her hands to her chest as she acknowledged her long journey back to health.

"Last year was one of the most difficult times of my entire life," she tells the BBC from Amsterdam. "Being back on stage has been so emotional."

Shakira shows her inner rocker

In a sneak peek first on CNN, the late-night host and the former "Voice" coach hop in car for one of the most international episodes of the Apple Music series to date.

Once buckled up, Shakira surprises Noah with her song choice -- "Zombie" by The Cranberries.

"I like to rock out," Shakira said in the clip. "I became a pop singer, but I grew up listening to hard-core rock music."

Noah has some surprises of his own in store for the episode, in which Sharkia takes Noah on a tour of Barcelona.

The episode begins streaming Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.

Pop stars Shakira and Vives accused of plagiarism

Their hit, La Bicicleta, won last year's Grammy Latino.

Cuban musician Livan Rafael Castellanos claims that Shakira and Vives copied a line and part of the chorus of his 1997 song Yo Te Quiero Tanto.

The complaint was filed at a court in Spain, where Shakira lives.

A spokesman for the court said the case centred around an intellectual property problem and focuses mainly on the melody and the lyrics of the choruses of both songs.
