This has been made possible through a fresh codeshare agreement between Virgin Australia Airlines and PNG Air.

This International Air Services Commission determination is valid for five years from September 12, 2018.

That was 20 years ago.

Today locals in Esa’ala were surprised when a PNG Air Dash 8 aircraft landed at the Districts Airstrip which is currently being given a facelift.

Locals told Loop PNG that they were surprised but happy to finally see an aircraft land in their home district after so many years.

PNG Air is intending to bring its services to the island District and opted for a test run following a meeting with Minister for Civil Aviation and local MP, Steven Davies.

Discussions on services to the district began early last year.

“We’d like to help people get into the Christmas spirit and also say thanks to all those who have supported us in our first year of operation,” says Chief Commercial Officer Paul Abbot.

“Together with the team from EMTV and a number of the stars from the hit series Vocal Fusion, passengers checking in and on board the aircraft will be treated to live entertainment as our way of ending the year on a high.”

Artists featured on PNG Air flights for the next two weeks include Joseph Ehava, Theo Benjamin, Didi Maru, Isaiah Mano and Peter Ho’leong.
