Super Sivo stars as Storm sunk in Bankwest rain

A day of torrential rain in Western Sydney couldn't dampen the quality of football from both sides.

Masterful long kicking and epic defence from both teams came before and a couple of superb attacking plays decided the match.

Sivo's two aerial masterpieces, out-leaping opposite George Jennings from high attacking kicks, proved the difference.

Happy Eels coach Brad Arthur praised the kicking of halfback Mitchell Moses but cautioned his side now needed to continually replicate that performance.

Sivo’s NRL future still unclear

The 27-year-old Parramatta Eels sensation remains unsigned for the 2022 season.

There are reports that Sivo’s contract is up for negotiations and is placing his trust on his Manager to find ground his future.

He has scored 37 tries in 46 appearances for the Eels.

Fiji Bati Head Coach Rabele says Sivo has got what it takes to be part of the Fiji Bati squad for the Rugby League World Cup.

The 2021 NRL season kicks off with the Rabbitohs taking on defending champions Melbourne Storm on March 11th.

Rising Parramatta Eels star Dylan Brown eyes code switch to fulfil All Blacks dream

Brown, who returned from an ankle injury ahead of schedule last weekend, has already committed his future to the Eels until the end of 2023. The 20-year-old will again partner Mitchell Moses in Saturday night’s semi-final against South Sydney, with the winner taking on Penrith for a grand final berth the following week.

Professional sport returns today, Brisbane vs Parramatta

Rugby league chief Peter V'landys was met with widespread disbelief when he announced in early April that the NRL would resume on May 28 but his ambition will pay off when a season suspended in late March resumes at Lang Park.

That ambition has been aided in large part by Australia's success in containing COVID-19 due to early travel restrictions, social distancing measures and widespread testing.

Maika Sivo misses start of Parramatta Eels preseason

The alleged incident is reported to have taken place on Saturday night involving a staff member at a resort in Nadi.

Mr Sivo was granted bail in the Nadi Magistrates court on Monday but he was also issued a stop departure order, preventing him from returning to Australia in time for the start of the Sydney league club's pre-season training on Thursday.

Sivo is due back in the Nadi Magistrate's Court on Tuesday next week.

Panthers flex muscles to extend Eels winless streak

The match featured some fairly stilted attack and low completion rates – plus high penalty counts – from both teams.

The Eels had no shortage of attacking opportunities and enjoyed the lion's share of the ball but asked very few questions of the Penrith defence, which regularly rushed up to shut down the time Eels halves Corey Norman and Mitch Moses had to look for options.

Benched Panther Viliame Kikau powers Panthers to shock second-half win over Parramatta

Viliame Kikau came off the pine and blew the game wide open in the second half with an amazing period of play which ultimately got his side the round one points.

Kikau scored a barnstorming try in the 43rd minute when he barged over a couple of sorry defenders.

That kickstarted the comeback for Penrith, who went to half time trailing 14-6 after a horror opening half-hour.

Moses finds his groove at Parra

Most encouragingly for Eels fans, the oft-maligned defender was steadfast off the ball, linking well with fellow right-edge men Kenny Edwards and Michael Jennings.

French adapts to life without his PCL

When French twisted his left knee at training back in Round 6, there were initial fears of a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Eels' Jennings wary of old club

And while it won't be the first time Eels centre Michael Jennings lines up against his former club, the 29-year-old is yet to beat them in Parramatta colours and is keen to change that when the two sides clash on Saturday afternoon in the 'Battle of the West'.
