Two dead as firefighters battle McKinney blaze

The bodies of the dead pair were found inside a car in the driveway of a property caught in the blaze.

Siskiyou County Sheriff Jeremiah LaRue told ABC News the two seemed to be trying to escape the area.

The McKinney Fire has burned more than 52,000 acres, making it California's largest this year.

The identities of the two dead people are not being released until their families have been notified.

Authorities confirm body is that of missing California girl

The search for Madyson Middleton ended Monday night when a detective discovered the body at the artist community and housing center in Santa Cruz where the girl lived with her mother.

A 15-year-old boy, who also lives in the complex and knew the girl, was arrested on suspicion of murder, Vogel said. Madyson willingly went to the boy's apartment, where she was killed, Santa Cruz Police Chief Kevin Vogel said at a news conference. A motive has not yet been released.
