Nauru Primary School

The school now has a new water pipe system that will benefit the school in terms of having a proper system in place for rainwater storage according to Nauru Media News.

With water a precious commodity during this prolonged dry spell, a community project initiative announced and funded by NORI is benefitting this school in addressing its issue with a constant and reliable supply of water.

Nauru Media News – NTV reports the successful students after receiving their badges will take up their duties and work together in keeping the school a safe place to learn.

The students were assembled in their respective classes when families and friends started to arrive.

The ceremony then commenced with the formalities followed by opening remarks from NPS PTA President Tryphosa Keke who highlighted in her address the important role of prefects and class captains.

 The two story and eight classroom school has a capacity for 400 students and was built by Australian company Canstruct in collaboration with the Government of Nauru, the Australian Government, the Nauru Education Department and the Australian Border Force.

The school is built using building materials that can cope with equatorial conditions – and able to withstand cyclones, earthquakes, fire, flood and termites – it was designed to stay cool with cross-flow airflow and ceiling fans which is appreciated by students given the Nauruan climate.

The students were presented with certificates for their excellent performance in their classes.

The awards night kicked off with the school’s anthem followed by an address by the principal.

Parents and guardians turned up in full support for the children and there was a lot jubilation as some of them received their awards.

The students are now looking forward to the school holidays which begin at the end of the week.
