Nauru Police ensure safety of public during Easter weekend

The Force posted on its official Facebook page saying “While most of us were enjoying our Easter holidays the Nauru Police Force was on its feet to deliver you Safety! Safety! Safety!.”

“While doing so Tango 1 team we’re also happily handing out chocolates and Easter eggs to kids whom were enjoying the Easter break cruising around the island with loved ones.”

The officers also distributed chocolates to children on the roads as part of their operation.

     

Nauru Police reminds drivers of license penalty

The Nauru Police Force has reported that members are still getting booked under the reason of not carrying their license despite numerous reminders.

Police has also reminded motorists to always wear their helmet for their safety on the road.

Nauru Police said “It's a very simple fix - we need to know who is licenced to drive on our roads for the safety of all, so, whenever you drive or ride, CARRY YOUR LICENCE WITH YOU!”

     

Nauru Police recruits extra officers for festive season operation

NPF confirmed that the group is drawn from a variety of backgrounds, many of whom are former Police Officers.

“We thank them for their willingness to assist in delivering SAFETYx3 for the duration of the NPF Special Roster.”

Meanwhile, the force has also reported that the public are still being booked for not carrying driver’s license despite numerous reminders.

     

Excitement builds for Nauru’s “By the Book” Victory Lap race

The event is a PRO-HELMET, ANTI-DRINK DRIVING campaign by Nauru Police Force with AFL Nauru modelling lawful behaviours on our roads that promote SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY for all, especially the youth.

The prizes are as follows:

Best decorated helmet: 1st: $150, 2nd: $100, 3rd: $50. Sponsored by Nauru Maritime and Port Authority.

Best decorated motorcycle: 1st: $300, 2nd: $200, 3rd: $100. Sponsored by RONPHOS Corporation.

Best decorated vehicle: 1st: $400, 2nd: $250, 3rd: $150. Sponsored by the Nauru Fisheries and Marine Resources Authority.

Nauru Police deploys officers for road duties

The public have been reminded to carry their licence and ensure their rides are registered.

All motorists have been warned to wear helmet.

Police have also reminded the public to not drive a car or bike if they are under the influence of alcohol.  

The public have also been advised to take extra care on the roads during the weekend, leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front - at least a 5 second gap. Slow down your speed, taking extra care in deep water, and don't brake heavily.

     

AFL Nauru partners with National Police Force

The police force confirmed that they have worked with national AFL representatives to plan ‘By the Book’ victory lap next Thursday prior to the grand final showdown on Saturday.

 

Police was represented by Commissioner Iven Notte and Deputy Commissioner Kalinda Blake.

 

They held meetings with not only the AFL members, but also the church leaders yesterday.

 

This is all part of the police programme of promoting ‘Safety, Safety, Safety’ for the public during this festive season.

     

Nauru authorities promote helmet wearing programme

The programme has received support from the public especially students who have created a jingle called “Inga wam helmet”.

The helmet wearing programme will to run until mid-January next year.

The programme is also targeting road safety awareness for motorists and pedestrians this festive season.

Police officers have been deployed to monitor road users and ensure the safety of the public.

Police are encouraging the public to observe road safety rules to ensure the Christmas and New Year festive period is accident and fatality-free.

     

Nauru drivers warned of hefty fines for drink driving

Drivers can face fines of up to $1000, suspension of their licence or imprisonment if found guilty of drink driving.

Assistant Senior Constable Darius Caleb emphasized the cautions and the consequences drivers could  face if they fail to abide by the law during an interview on Radio Nauru.

Caleb said, “Drink driving – there’s no future in it! Simply, do not drink and drive or ride – call a sober designated driver to take you straight home.”

Fijian Police Inspector awarded Nauru’s Outstanding Performance Medal

Nauru Police said the awards were to acknowledge and recognise his work, contribution and dedication to the improvement of the Nauru Police Force and its Officers since 2018.

Inspector Tikotani, in his role as Brass Band Master for the Nauru Police Force, started work in 2018 to induct Nauru Police Force Officers as members of the Police Brass Band, delivering musical tuition and marching and ceremonial drill training.

Operation National Survey Poll underway in Nauru

Police will perform their duties assisting Electoral Commissioners and supporting presiding officers in accordance with the Electoral Act 2016.

The Operation continues at the Civic Centre for early voting and at other venues where voters qualify for early voting, expanding to 17 teams around the island on survey day on Saturday 13 November.
