The NRL's coaching carousel has taken its next stop with Ivan Cleary released by the Tigers and Maguire confirmed as his successor for the next three seasons.

Maguire will continue his role with the New Zealand national team, a role handed to him after he was sacked by Souths at the end of last year.

The news broke after the Kiwis were beaten 18-16 by England in Hull this morning to go 1-0 down in the three-match series, and NZRL chief executive Greg Peters said they had no issue with Maguire combining dual roles.

The Rabbitohs could drop as low as 14th on the Telstra Premiership ladder at the end of Round 14 after going down 24-18 to the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on Friday, fighting back from a 12-6 half-time deficit to level the scores early in the second term before Brisbane sealed the win late.

On that occasion, Burgess was taken off after 31 minutes, passed his HIA check and started the second half in a tight 24-18 win.

On Thursday, Burgess reeled out of a collision with Roosters back-rower Isaac Liu in which the Rabbitohs lock – while attempting to tackle Liu – collected the Rooster's shoulder on his jaw.

Seibold is part of a new-look coaching team at the Rabbitohs this season with Kurt Wrigley and Wayne Collins both moving on and replaced by Seibold and another former Raider in David Furner.

It was revealed on Tuesday afternoon that the Roosters had signed the 24-year-old on a two-year-deal starting in 2017. 

Maguire said he would have liked to have kept Keary in Redfern beyond 2016 but conceded salary cap pressures had played their part in the decision. 

"All those great players that you have let go of at some stage; it's about the salary cap and what goes on in club land," he said. 

"Luke and I have talked about him staying but also the opportunities for him to leave, and for various reasons he's chosen those.
