Apple sets new record with 13 million iPhones sold

"Sales for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple's history," CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. "Customers' feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos."

Last year, Apple sold 10 million units and prior to that 9 million units in 2013. This year Apple released the new iPhone model in China on day one, which helped increase its sale numbers significantly.

Apple warns Pope could delay iPhone 6S

Apple has warned that Pope Francis's impending visit to New York could stop the city's residents receiving their iPhone 6S pre-orders in time for this Friday's launch.

With traffic restrictions being placed on the bustling city during the pontiff's stay, it is expected that couriers will be unable to meet all delivery needs on the day.

Microsoft's Lumia 950 won't come cheap

Spanish retailer Ecomputer is listing the Lumia 950 at €659 and its larger sibling at €749, roughly the same as what the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus cost on the continent.

The Redmond firm is holding a product unveiling in New York on October 6 and the new handsets are expected to take centre stage.

- DONATE TO CHARITY

Several charities accept old phones for donation, though it's worth remembering that these groups probably won't physically give your old phones to people in need. Rather, they work with phone recyclers and sell your donated phones to them.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ pre-orders to begin August 20

After a less-than-favorable financial fissure in 2014, the company has been on a major image overhaul agenda. TouchWiz has been trimmed down, the Galaxies are now made of glass (well the high-end ones at least), and even the product logos have been refined. As the company prepares for its Unpacked event, new news is leaking out about the upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the phablet-sized follow-up to this spring’s flagship.
