Garry Lo: Castleford Tigers release winger by mutual consent

The 24-year-old Papua New Guinea international has not featured since voluntarily assisting the police with an inquiry last month.

The club said in a statement: "Today we received a request from Garry Lo's representative to be released from his contract with the club to allow him to focus on a personal matter."

Lo joined the Tigers from Sheffield Eagles in September on a two-year deal.

Tigers coach Daryl Powell chose to rest some of his frontline players against St Helens after the excesses of two games in four days last weekend and his fringe prospects proved equal to the task in a 16-12 victory at The Jungle.

First-half tries from Mark Percival and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook had the Saints 12-4 up at the interval and on the way to completing a double over the Tigers.

But the hosts clocked up 12 unanswered points in the second period to edge a testing encounter, with Mike McMeeken and Tom Holmes touching down.

Castleford seek £500k Solomona compensation

Solomona, 23, is alleged to have demanded his wages were doubled before his controversial rugby code switch.

Court papers seen by the BBC claim Sale had been agitating for Solomona to move since last summer, and that they acted with the player and agent Andy Clarke.

The papers also allege Sale knew he was under contract until November 2018.
