Britney Spears slays 2016 VMAs performance with a surprise from G-Eazy

Of course, fans would've loved to see Brit Brit throughout the past nine years, but given her performance tonight we're sure fans walked away completely satisfied. She began her set with "Make Me," walking out in a sheer jumpsuit with yellow sequins and bright yellow boots. Not too long after did G-Eazy join her out on stage where they really heated things up. They eventually transitioned into "Me, Myself & I," grinding and dancing all up on each other much to the delight of the audience and viewers watching.

MTV VMAs 2016: 5 reasons to watch

But let's be honest, the VMAs are more about jaw dropping moments than music videos and Moon Man trophies.

Whether it was Kanye West stealing the stage from Taylor Swift in the midst of her acceptance speech in 2009, or Miley Cyrus twerking her way into a national controversy in 2013, this annual award show is always unfiltered.

Here are five reasons to watch this year's VMAs.

Britney's back

About that Britney Spears, Justin Bieber rumor...

Spears has shot down chatter that she is collaborating with the Biebs. In an interview with BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday, the singer was asked if there was any truth to rumors they were working on a track together

"No, there's no truth to that at all," Spears said.

Instead talk turned to Bieber's nude photos -- which Spears called "insane"-- and her meeting him years ago.

Backstreet Boys founder dies in prison aged 62

The Federal Bureau of Prisons said the disgraced businessman died on Friday, providing no other details — he was 62.

Inspired by the success of the boy band New Kids on the Block, Pearlman recruited a group of unknowns to form the Backstreet Boys, which soared to stardom in 1996, becoming one of the best-selling boy bands of all-time.

The group sold more than 130 million records, its website says.

Some members of Pearlman's other bands, including Justin Timberlake of NSYNC and Britney Spears, went on to achieve major stardom with solo careers.

Oops, she's doing it again: Britney Spears to perform at MTV VMAs

The pop star will perform at this year's MTV Video Music Awards for the first time in roughly a decade, the network announced on Tuesday.

Spears is set to sing her new single "Make Me...," from her album "Glory," alongside rapper G-Eazy. This will be the first live performance from Spears' new album, which releases on August 26.

Spears, who has performed at the VMAs five times previously, claims some of the show's most iconic acts. In 2001, she sang with a giant snake around her shoulders and kissed with Madonna to open the show in 2003.

Britney Spears gets a shoutout from football manager

Eric Cantona's seagulls and trawlers, Jose Mourinho's famous declaration "I think I'm a special one"... the list is long and illustrious.

But you probably never imagined you'd hear Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino namechecking two of the world's biggest popstars during his pre-match press conference ahead of their big Boxing Day clash with Norwich City.

Britney Spears teaches a kids' dance class

The pop legend took Hollywood by storm this weekend, carting her niece, Lexie, along for a fun-filled few days of dance class and amusement park rides. Spears' first stop was to teach a dance routine to another lucky group of little girls to Kesha's "Timber" and the '90s freestyle hit, Snap's "Rhythm is a Dancer."

"Watch Lexie pop!" Spears captioned one of the videos, referring to her older brother Bryan's daughter, who can be spotted closer to the wall adorably trying to follow along with the older girls.

Britney Spears could extend her Vegas residency into 2016

According to a cluster of pictures doing the rounds on Twitter, Live Nation has let it slip that Britney's planning a new run of shows from January 2 to April 22.

The singer's residency is officially scheduled to run until the end of the year, with Britney herself recently expressing doubt over whether she'll sign up for more shows.

"I haven't made up my mind," she admitted last month.

"I really love doing the show. It's a lot of fun, but I'm kind of torn right now. I don't really know what I want to do."
