PNG receives big welcome

This is the second match of Day One at the Sir John Guise Stadium.

The team was welcomed with a contemporary dance and fireworks display.

Prime Minister Peter O'Neill is also present to watch the match along with Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko and FIFA Oceania and PNGFA president David Chung.

The home side, in red coloured jersey, is led by Captain Yvonne Gabong.

The visitors, in yellow and blue uniform, will be out in full force.

As a normal practice, the team captains did the handshake for peace before the match kicked off.

Carlos Alberto dies following heart attack

FIFA confirmed the news this morning.

Alberto scored Brazil's fourth goal in their 4-1 win over Italy in Mexico's Azteca Stadium, a thumping drive that ended a move involving nine players, before hoisting the Jules Rimet trophy as Brazil won the title for the third time.

The classy defender played for Fluminense, Santos, Flamengo and New York Cosmos and won the nickname "The Captain" for his leadership qualities.

He was capped 53 times by Brazil.

Guida and Maia, both over 40 years old, are the first residents.

They will be provided with veterinary care and live out their lives in forested areas with pastures.

A US-based group bought the land to give the elephants a refuge as zoos in the region close and more laws prohibit the use of animals in circuses.
