Bomber Crowley to lose the tag: Worsfold

The former Docker proved himself dangerous in attack in Essendon's intra-club practice match at the True Value Solar Centre on Friday.

Crowley presented well on the lead as a mid-sized forward and he also took a big grab over the top of a pack early in the game, made up of three stanzas of around 25 minutes, before slotting his set shot from directly in front.

Impressive Martin leaves Tigers in his dust

Martin was at his powerful best in the internal match, playing four of the six 15-minute periods as a half-forward before appearing to get a knock to the head and leaving the game as a precaution.

He took impressive marks on the lead, broke tackles and produced a trademark fend-off as a tune-up for the up coming pre-season matches.

Essendon players' appeal against CAS over supplements saga judgement confirmed by AFLPA

The CAS upheld the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) appeal of the AFL anti-doping tribunal's decision last year to clear the players of wrongdoing over the Bombers' 2012 supplements program.

The doping offences relate to the use of the prohibited substance Thymosin Beta-4.

Port Adelaide pair sign new one-year deals

Neither Palmer nor Howard made their AFL debuts in 2015 – their first year in the League – but showed enough to warrant the club offering them another season to prove their worth.

Howard, 19, battled injury early last season before playing at SANFL level for the Magpies, while Palmer was one of the Magpies' best – leading to him being named as an emergency for the senior team late in the year.

'We try not to dump blokes' at training: Jones

The conflict, which involved a bit of push and shove and a few verbal barbs before the pair was separated, was sparked after McDonald took offence at being dumped in a tackle by Viney during a drill.

Captain Nathan Jones played down Tuesday's stoush but said reducing the risk of injury in practice contests was important, in particular after a long pre-season with the NAB Challenge around the corner.

Collingwood's Jeremy Howe insists he broke finger playing frisbee, not cricket

There were reports on Tuesday that Howe had caught his middle finger in the ground while playing catch with his girlfriend and dog last Tuesday.

He underwent surgery, where medical staff inserted two screws in the lower part of his finger.

Friendly fire at Demons training as Gawn reaches new heights

The session, which included an hour of match simulation, ran at a high intensity and the players were charged up throughout, emphasised by the incident between Viney and McDonald.

McDonald took umbrage at Viney's dumping tackle during an earlier drill and the pair had to be separated after things became heated.

The session continued without further incident but it showed the eagerness of the players to get into the season proper.

Bullish Magpie says he's ready to suit up immediately

Although he has played just nine games in two seasons, Reid's confidence was buoyed after he played the final five matches of 2015 without injury.

Belief that the worst is behind the 26-year-old has grown over the pre-season.

"Every now and then I miss a session and let the body recover a bit more," Reid said.

Adam Goodes remembered as one of Sydney Swans' greatest

Goodes 35, made a low-key exit from the game he has graced since 1999, announcing his retirement to team-mates in the sheds after Saturday's semi-final home loss to North Melbourne.

He eschewed the fanfare of an emotional public farewell out on the field and the chance to be chaired off the ground, like retiring team-mate Rhyce Shaw.

At the end of an epic career and tumultuous season, Goodes leaves the game having chalked up 372 appearances, the eighth highest tally of all time and the most by an indigenous player.
