Adam Reynolds

Adam Reynolds announced as new Broncos captain

The goal-kicking halfback with 231 NRL appearances to his name becomes the 13th player including inaugural NRLW skipper Ali Brigginshaw to be named permanent Captain as the Club enters its 35th season in the competition.

The 31-year-old joins Wally Lewis, Gene Miles, Allan Langer, Kevin Walters, Gorden Tallis, Darren Lockyer, Sam Thaiday, Corey Parker, Justin Hodges, Darius Boyd, Brigginshaw and Alex Glenn as those to have been named fulltime Broncos Captains.

Rabbitohs keen to arrest slow starts

The Rabbitohs conceded three tries in the opening 12 minutes against the Sea Eagles but managed to turn it around to secure a morale-boosting win on the road.

Reynolds to miss opening month

The South Sydney playmaker withdrew from the Auckland Nines earlier in February due to hamstring tightness as a precautionary measure, and also didn't play in the Rugby League All Stars game despite being initially named in the World All Stars side.

Reynolds facing a month out

Reynolds came from the field 16 minutes from full-time nursing his right arm with Blues coach Laurie Daley expecting that his No.7 would be unavailable to play in Game Three of the 2016 Holden State of Origin Series on July 13 back in Sydney.

Reynolds will have scans on his shoulder when he returns to Sydney on Thursday but if the Blues' early diagnosis proves to be accurate the earliest he would be able to return would be in Round 19 against the Broncos by which time the Rabbitohs' semi-final hopes could already have evaporated.

Cronk's advice for new Blue Reynolds

While Cronk holds the undisputed mantle for calmness under pressure Reynolds' game has developed to the point that it not only delivered the Rabbitohs the 2014 Telstra Premiership but has him widely regarded as the owner of the best kicking game in the NRL.

It's a kicking game that will be put under more pressure than Reynolds has ever previously experienced next Wednesday night at ANZ Stadium as he and five-eighth James Maloney look to counter the stranglehold Cronk and Johnathan Thurston have had over Origin for the past five years.

Kicking game to drive Blues home

The cry came from a Blues teammate as new halfback Adam Reynolds, from 30 metres out, stabbed a kick towards the in-goal of the Novotel Pacific Bay Resort training field literally minutes into the Blues' first training run of the camp, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Steeden jagged past the try-line, popped up off its point then stopped dead perhaps a metre from the dead ball line and a metre inside the touch in goal line, drawing raucous cheers from the players riding the play or perhaps jeering the naysayer (from the volume, we'll assume it was Andrew Fifita).

Reynolds: I’m ready for Origin

Touted as a possible Blues debutant early last season before a knee injury on Good Friday in 2015 wrecked his hopes, it looked like another cruel injury blow was set to ruin the South Sydney junior’s chances again.

But a month back from a broken jaw, Reynolds has gotten better every week and had the ball on a string in a commanding performance against the Dragons where he shook off an early error to torment the Red V with a serious of precision long and short kicks, helping create three tries off his boot and generate three repeat sets.
