Olla’s glove work brings New Zealand home defeating Ghana 1-0

New Zealand goalkeeper Nadia Olla took it on her to save her country with an outstanding glove work against Ghana in the FIFA U20 Women’s Group C World Cup match tonight in Port Moresby.

New Zealand defeated Ghana 1-0 at the PNG Football Stadium in Papua New Guinea’s capital.

In the first pool match, United States of America and France drew scoreless at the same venue.

The match between Ghana and New Zealand was physical and divided the vocal crowd of 2, 877 people.

However, the Oceania champions humbled the African zone country with a heartbreaking loss when substitute striker Tayla Christensen scored at the stroke of normal time.

Christensen’s slick footwork, outsmart the Ghana defenders and goal keeper to carefully sink the ball into the net.

New Zealand striker Paige Satchell scooped the player of the match award after displaying a strong performance. She will be a player to watch out for in the world cup because of her speed.

Both countries came out blazing with pace and created their own opportunities but failed in executing those opportunities.

Ghana top players for tonight were midfielders, Ernestina Abamila and Wasila Diwura – Soale.
