LOC condemns ‘ticket touters’

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup is aware of ‘ticket touters’ and condemns the actions of the people who are engaged in it.

LOC Chief Executive Officer, Seamus Marten said match tickets are being sold at the four ticket outlets in Port Moresby and one outlet in Lae.

He said the LOC nor the ticket outlets are giving bulk tickets to people to sell outside of the official ticket outlets at their own mark-up prices.

Marten said ticket outlets have a limit to sell to individuals per purchase but there is no law in PNG preventing people from doing this.

“We can only encourage people to buy from the authorized outlets at face value,” said Marten.

He said the LOC advised the general public to purchase their tickets from the designated ticket outlets to avoid last-minute rush which would eventually lead to purchasing tickets at higher cost.

Marten also clarified that there are still quarter final, semi-final and the finals tickets being sold at the four outlets and also online.

“Just because tickets have run out from one ticket outlet doesn’t mean that the tickets are sold out, the fans must check the other ticket outlets to purchase the tickets.

Marten also expressed his thanks to the general public in Port Moresby who have been showing up at the round robin matches to support the teams.

“The turnout by the fans havve been tremendous and we have shown the football community around the world that we are honoured to have this world cup hosted in the country,” said Marten.

He said the remaining matches will be a spectacle for the fans.
