Ireland in top form ahead of Kumuls clash

The Ireland team was in great form at this morning’s captain’s run done in Port Moresby's Oil Search National Football Stadium.

Great focus ahead of the game, the Ireland squad is looking forward to facing home side PNG Kumuls tomorrow (Nov 5).

This morning’s captain’s run was Ireland’s way of getting into the momentum following the week’s public outreach with National Capital District residents.

Tomorrow’s clash against the PNG LNG Kumuls will determine who ends up in the quarter finals, making it out of the pool matches and PNG hopes to be that team after they overcome this Ireland outfit.

While the losers of USA versus Italy on Sunday will be out, Ireland needs a repeat performance on PNG soil to knock the sparkling Kumuls off their seat.

On home territory, backed by a hysterical crowd, PNG Kumuls already look good to win Pool C and face England in the quarter-finals but Ireland should prove a far tougher test.

Ireland will be led by a huge amount of experience in the masterful captain Liam Finn, who will be backed up well by top Super League talents like Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, whose tremendous effort on debut proved well.

Surely the first Millwall fan to score a try in a Rugby League World Cup sees Mickey McIlorum and Kyle “seen it all before” Amor, whom we caught up with at Vision City at a fan engagement looking quite at ‘ease’ ahead of tomorrow’s showdown.
