South Africa have extended their lead in the men's World Sevens Series after beating England 29-14 in Cup final in Sydney.
The Blitz Boks have won three of the four tournaments this season, opening up a 17 point lead over the English, who leapfrogged Fiji into second place in the overall standings
South Africa coach Neil Powell said it was especially satisfying after losing to England in pool play a day earlier.
"For the guys to come out and beating them in this way was great," he said.
"And I think last season as well, we played in four finals [and] only won one of the four so it's important for us to get that psyche when we get into the finals, when we talk about that excel...excel step to make it all the way."
Tough weekend for the Pacific
Fiji were stunned by Wales on Saturday, marking the first time the World Series champions have lost a pool game in back to back tournaments since October 2013.
That match was also against Wales, although on that occasion they went on to win the Cup in what was Ben Ryan's first tournament in charge.
Gareth Baber's side were then beaten 24-21 by New Zealand in the Cup quarter finals, before beating Argentina and the United States to finish in fifth place.
Samoa's horror start to the season continued as they finished in a share of 11th place.
The Manu were thrashed 40-0 by Fiji in their opening match, pipped 17-14 by France and drew 7-7 with Wales to finish bottom of Pool B.
Sir Gordon Tietjens' side upset Scotland, who finished third in Wellington the previous week, 21-14 to advance to the Challenge Trophy semifinals, but were undone by Russia for the second time in eight days, beaten 17-12.
Papua New Guinea finished winless at Allianz Stadium - matching their efforts from Wellington - but showed improvements on defence, conceding 120 points across their five matches, a vast improvement on the 192 leaked a week earlier.
Meanwhile Fiji climbed to fourth overall after two rounds of the Women's World Series, despite missing out on the Cup quarter finals in Sydney.
The Fijiana beat France 31-12 in the fifth place playoff to match their effort in Dubai in December.
But the Papua New Guinea Palais were unable to mark their World Series debut with a victory, losing all five matches to finish in last place.
