Nauru Powerlifting Championship Challenge scheduled for January 2019

The Government of Nauru will be hosting the Nauru Powerlifting Championship Challenge in January 2019 as part of the country’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.

The Competition will be held from on Wednesday 23 January to  Friday 25 January at the ETANGIT KARAMWEN -Naoero Community Sports Centre

Minister for Sports, Tawaki Kam said as a sporting nation, Nauruans are passionate about their sports and Nauru has been successful particularly in the sport of powerlifting, more so in recently years.

Recently Nauru attended the Oceania Powerlifting Championship at the Gold Coast and won many medals. 

“I take this opportunity to congratulate our Nauru Powerlifting Team for winning many medals and in particular to our own super heavyweight champion Jezza Uepa who won the Best Lifter at the Gold Coast Championship.”

“This championship will be organised by Department of Sports and Nauru Government will support and be ready to meet all obligations to ensure the success of the Championship.”

Kam is inviting international athletes to Nauru to compete with the country’s powerlifting athletes.
