Nauru gas leak still posing a problem

The Nauru government's Information Office has reiterated a call first made on Friday for fishermen to keep well clear of a part of the harbour following a gas leak.

The Ports Authority says liquid petroleum gas, or LPG, is leaking from what it calls a 'tank tainer' which is moored on a flat raft near one of the island's phosphate cantilevers.

Fishermen are being warned not to use mobile phones, cigarette lighters and hand held VHF radios in the vicinity.
