Digicel Nauru Corporation on Wednesday presented a dividend payment of AUD$504,939 for the period September 2018 to March 2019 to the Nauruan Government, underpinning its ongoing commitment to Nauru and her people.
Since 2009, Digicel has paid over US$12.5 million to the Government of Nauru in dividends and taxes. Digicel continues to be the most prolific financial supporter and sponsor of sports, education, health and cultural initiatives in the country.
His Excellency Hon. Baron Divavesi Waqa, President of The Republic of Nauru thanked Digicel for its significant contribution to the communications infrastructure in Nauru and said; “Congratulations to the entire team at Digicel for exceeding our expectations. We have invested in a business that continues to support and stand with the community through its services and dedication to the people of Nauru.”
Digicel Nauru CEO, Deepak Khanna, said; “We had a great year and celebrate many successes. In recent months, Digicel has invested a significant amount in network infrastructure upgrades and in rolling out its LTE 4G+ service with customers enjoying superfast speeds and great value offers. Digicel is also active in the community with various grassroots sponsorships including supporting national powerlifter, Jezza Uepa, Govt Hospital – Free Telemedicine hosted solution, Nauru Olympic Association, Powerlifting and Weightlifting Association sponsorship, Miss Nauru, Rugby and Athletics Associations sponsorship, AFL and Nauru Karate Federation sponsorship and recently supporting Team Nauru Special Olympics to the World Summer Games.
