Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff to play rare UK date in Blackpool

Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff are reuniting to headline at a music festival in Blackpool.

The gig in August will be the only chance fans get to see the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and his hip-hop partner perform in the UK this year.

A spokesperson for the Livewire Festival said: "We can't wait to bring them to Blackpool! It's the best location in the UK for entertainment."

Sinitta, The Jacksons and Jason Donovan are also performing.

DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith, a.k.a the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, met in the 1980s and won a Grammy for their single Parents Just Don't Understand.

They also went on to make world-famous songs like Summertime, Boom! Shake the Room and appear in 1990s sitcom the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

They've released five albums together, but stopped when Will's Hollywood career took off.

Will Smith and the cast of Fresh Prince recently enjoyed a reunion together.

Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton Banks, posted a picture on Instagram.

He was joined by Will Smith (Will), Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Vivian) and Joseph Marcell (butler Geoffrey).

James Avery, who played Will Smith's uncle in the Fresh Prince, died in 2014.

Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff have made a few appearances together but rarely to perform, and now will take to the stage at Livewire Festival.

It's taking place over three days between 25-27 August at Tower Festival Headland on the promenade.
