Solomon Islands Government fulfils its committment

The ruling Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government in Solomon Islands has handed over a total of 130 computers and accessories to the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) to fulfill its commitment towards the country's first national unive

The computers will boost the University’s ICT facilities and will increase access by students to Information and Communication technology services.

Handing over the new facility to the University, Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, Dr Derek Sikua said the ceremony highlights the Government’s commitment to the university in line with its policy to increase student’s access to ICT services.

“These computer labs are part of the DCC Government’s commitment to its policy statement and to the Solomon Islands National University, in particular, the students who will be the main beneficiaries of these IT facilities.” Dr Sikua said.

SINU Vice Chancellor Dr Glynn Galo said there is a relationship between the quality of teaching, learning resources and the quality of graduates’ institution such as SINU produce.

Key to this is the provision of quality infrastructure, equipment, and learning resources such as library resources and internet access to both staff and students.

In recognizing this, SINU since its establishment as a University in 2013 has been embarking on the provision of much needed resources with development budget funds from the Solomon Islands Government, as part of its transition from SICHE to SINU.

Dr Galo said the facilities are an example of the Government support and SINU is so grateful for the assistance.
