Pacific Met and Land services to map out future development

Meteorological and land survey departments from 11 Pacific countries will be meeting with development partners next week to map out the future of development support for the region.

This comes as Australian funding for the existing Climate and Ocean Support Program is scheduled to end in June 2017 and many of its activities are transferring to SPC, (South Pacific Community), and SPREP, (Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme).

The steering committee for the programme will meet in Samoa for three days from October 3.

It will discuss regional priorities for the development of Pacific National Meteorological Services and Land Survey Departments and map out a plan for Australia's continued support to the region.
