Flying Fijians Leone Nakarawa and Nemani Nadolo named in international rugby team of the year

There's no room for Richie McCaw but six of his All Blacks mates have made a coveted team of the year.

Respected specialist website Planet Rugby has named their favoured XV from a year that saw the international game dominated by the All Blacks again as they swept to back to back World Cup titles.

But there was no room for sentimentality for McCaw who stepped away from the game in the wake of that success, with record numbers next to his name.

McCaw was nominated for the No 7 jersey but it was awarded to Springboks and Bath flanker Francois Louw, whose record tackle count at the World Cup and in English club play got him the nod.

Hooker Dan Coles was the only All Blacks forward to make the Planet Rugby pack with his exceptional running game alongside his core skills recognised.

All Blacks dominate the backline with fullback Ben Smith, rookie right wing Nehe Milner-Skudder, second-five Ma'a Nonu, first-five Dan Carter and halfback Aaron Smith all selected.

Planet Rugby decided there were no rivals for Carter in handing him the No 10 jersey.

"We might have not seen enough of Dan Carter in Super Rugby but the impact he made at the Rugby World Cup, especially in the knockout stages topped off by a commanding display in the final, earn him his place. After some injury-hit years, he looks back to his best," they said of Carter who was named World Rugby's player of the year.
