Digicel pledges $150k for Cyclone relief efforts

Digicel has pledged FJ$150,000 towards the relief and rehabilitation required after the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Fiji, Mr. Darren McLean says an early response is needed to help our country get back on its feet in this time of crisis.

“Digicel will donate FJ$100k to the Prime Ministers Relief Fund and a further FJ$50k which will be used towards relief and rehabilitation in coordination with the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO). In times of natural disasters, we think it is important that we move quickly to help the most vulnerable in our communities”.

“There has been a huge amount of damage in the North-West of Viti Levu, Koro, Lomaiviti Group and up in the North, I have seen the situation first hand while surveying the damage to our towers yesterday,” added Mr. McLean.

“Digicel is proud to be part of a community that is coming together in this time of need to support the relief and rehabilitation efforts and would urge more organisations to come forward and help out.”

“Digicel wishes all families in Fiji a peaceful and safe recovery” said Mr. McLean.
