Digicel lends timely help to 50 HART children with back to school items

Digicel Fiji, your data network, in partnership with its major print supplier, Star Printery provided a huge boost to 50 children under the HART (Housing Assistance and Relief Trust) just ahead of the new school year which begins on Monday.

Digicel staff got together and contributed general school stationary items while Star Printery gave all the exercise books to the children.

Digicel Fiji CEO, Mike Greig made the presentation and met the children and encouraged them to do their best in school this year.

“This is an excellent gesture at the start of the year, I want to thank Digicel Fiji staff who took pride and made an effort to buy stationary and help some needy children in our community,” said Greig.

“50 children under the HART organization will benefit from the timely back-to school aid as children prepare to head back to classes next week.”

“This is a timely donation and is part of our corporate social responsibility and this is our assistance to the underprivileged in the community. We know many families are struggling to buy basic stationary and exercise books and this gift will greatly help these families for the new school year.”

“Our package included all exercise books each child along with everyday school needs like ball pens, pencils, sharpeners, rulers, erasers and color pencils.”

Star Printery Limited Director, Mr. Sandeep Chauhan says they have been very active in the community and have always believed in giving back in whichever way possible.

“Educare Exercise books have been in the market since 2015 and in partnership with Digicel, were launched with the children of Dilkusha, St Christopher's and the Hart Home. We are indeed privileged to once again partner with Digicel and contribute towards this noble cause.”

Children from selected groups ranging from Year 1 to 13 students received the back-to-school hampers today.

As a surprise package, all children and their parents were treated to live band music by Fiji’s ‘vude’ (disco) queen, Laisa Vulakoro for an hour at the HART Valelevu.
