US lauds state sponsor of terrorism ... for fighting terrorism

"The United States welcomes Sudan's recent efforts to increase counterterrorism cooperation with the United States," State Department spokesman John Kirby said in a statement.

"Sudan has taken important steps to counter ISIL and other terrorist groups and has sought to prevent their movement into and through Sudan. Sudan's continued cooperation will bolster international efforts to combat terrorism in the broader region," Kirby added, using the government's preferred acronym for ISIS.

The 9/11 attacks in the US happened when you were under 10. The London bombings took place when you were a teenager or younger.

There have been bombs and shootings around the world regularly ever since, from the US to Tunisia, Spain to Belgium, Baghdad to Paris.

And because of social media, when something terrible happens to other people - we all know about it, fast.

So are we getting numb? Have we got "fear fatigue"?

Or is it that we're getting better at defiance?

Brussels Airport opening delayed with infrastructure 'devastated' by attacks

Six days after the attacks that claimed 28 lives on the city’s Metro and at the airport, hopes for a swift restoration of normality have faded.

The police spent five days conducting forensic examinations in the departures hall where the airport blasts took place. They handed back the area on Sunday to allow a phased reintroduction of flights. But the airport management now says: “The simple fact is that a restart in the short term is not possible in the devastated infrastructure.”

Singh is 21 and wears a turban as part of his Sikh faith.
