Teacher Orientation Week important for addressing Nauru children’s future

Nauru Media News – NTV reports Orientation Week is important for all the teachers’ as it is an opportunity for the Education department to brief them about where education is and its plans forward.

It also helps teachers carry out curriculum planning before school starts.

Fiji teachers head for Nauru and Tuvalu

The Fiji Volunteer Service started in 2012 and has seen Fiji provide various assistance to Pacific Island countries in building capacity in human resources.

Present at the handover was the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Semi Koroilavesau.

 The scheme also further strengthens Fiji’s engagement with the islands in the region.

“Fiji has sufficient and proven capacity in areas of education, public administration, disaster management, peacekeeping, social protection and environment, “Koroilavesau said.

Teaching jobs hard to fill in Cook Islands

Twenty two positions are currently being advertised including five jobs for principals and eight jobs at the main secondary school Tereora College.

There are also seven other vacancies at primary and secondary schools in the country.

A Director of Human Resources with the government Terry Utaga says an example of the problem is the field of accounting where potential applicants for an accounting teacher job prefer to stick to higher paying jobs outside teaching.
